These vacancies are only available to employees of Cardiff Council including Cardiffworks and Agency Workers currently engaged with the Council.
Cardiff Harbour Authority maintenance team was created to maintain the Cardiff Barrage. Two Mechanical Engineering posts have become available as part of the Barrage Engineering Team.
Candidates must have gained a formal mechanical apprenticeship and have a suitable Engineering Certification (HNC or similar). The roles require a high level of Mechanical Engineering knowledge particularly with regards to hydraulics.
The posts will provide a unique opportunity for those who have significant mechanical engineering experience. The selected candidates will be expected to be flexible, excellent team workers and have good communication skills. They must be enthusiastic and able to demonstrate initiative. Fault finding and problem solving skills are essential. In addition, heavy industry experience is a requirement of the posts.
The successful candidates must be prepared to work outside of normal hours and in all weather conditions. A statutory requirement under the post is to be able to arrive on site and carrying out rectifications works within an hour of any major failure being identified.
In return Cardiff Harbour Authority will provide a training package to include the opportunity of further education and development.
