A number of exciting opportunities have become available at Cardiff Council Children’s Services.

We are recruiting two Full-Time, Senior Residential Child Care Officers for Ty Storrie, which is a short break facility for young people and their families with specialist facilities.

The successful candidates will be part of a vital team providing a comprehensive service to young people between the ages of 6 –18 inclusive, ensuring the physical, social, and emotional care and development of the young people.

We deliver high quality care to young people using the Signs of Safety Framework which is an innovative strength based approach that provides stable, safe and nurturing placements.

As a Senior Residential Childcare Officer, you will play an essential role in caring for our young people. We are looking for enthusiastic, emotionally literate and highly motivated individuals. You must be able to demonstrate a “can-do” attitude and be driven to go the extra mile. Working in a positive and respectful manner, you will provide individualised care through the development of professional and effective relationships.

The successful candidates will have completed Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care and Children and Young People Service as required by Social Care Wales for registration and be able to undertake and become competent in all training & development requirements of the post.  In addition you will have experience of working with young people with emotional, physical, social, behavioural and complex needs and at least 2 years’ experience in the role of a residential Childcare Officer.

A vital part of the role is the ability to work within a shift pattern of morning, evening, weekend and bank holiday working, plus sleep–in–duties. In return we can support to undertake qualifications and continuous professional development opportunities.
