The Council is seeking a highly motivated and capable professional to play a part in delivering the Council’s ambitious Active Travel programme. The role involves co-ordinating the delivery of projects and works to develop and improve the on-highway and off highway network of walking and cycling (Active Travel) routes. This will include working within multi-disciplinary teams, with other Council departments and liaising with stakeholders and customers to implement schemes and to effectively resolve problems, faults and other general maintenance issues with the on-highway and off-highway active travel network.
The role also supports the delivery of promotional activities, events, cycling development (e.g. cycle training) travel behaviour change programmes (e.g. Active Travel Plans for Schools) and developing plans for expanding the future Active Travel network. This will involve engaging and collaborating with key advocacy groups and other external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a strong personal commitment to and enthusiasm for promoting Active Travel for daily journeys. They will have proven experience in planning and managing the implementation of projects to budget and within tight deadlines, delivering customer focussed services and managing budgets. The skills and personal attributes essential to this role include good communication and IT skills and a positive attitude to new challenges and a willingness to adapt to opportunities.
