A 12 month internship opportunity is available within the Architectural team of Projects Design & Development (PDD).

The post is designed specifically for candidates who wish to undertake 12 months practical experience between RIBA Part 1 and Part 2 academic study. It is essential that candidates have achieved degree standard qualification at RIBA Part 1 standard and must be committed to an RIBA Part 2 accredited course.

Projects Design and Development (PDD) is an ‘in house’ multidisciplinary professional business unit that provides professional consultancy support for service area clients across Cardiff Council.  The service area comprises of architects, construction project managers, quantity surveyors, M&E engineers, structural engineers and business support officers.  Cardiff Council operates an extensive portfolio with a variety of service area clients that include Education, Housing and Communities, Bereavement Services, Harbour Authority, Parks and Leisure.

The successful candidate shall assist the architectural manager in the production of a full range of architectural design functions and shall have direct involvement in the design of projects. Working as part of an integrated multidiscipline project team the post holder will assist in the successful delivery of construction projects, whilst developing their practical experience and knowledge of the construction process.

You must demonstrate a range of design experience & technical skills through an architectural portfolio. You will be expected to engage in the Professional Educational Development Record (PEDR) or equivalent in accordance with the requirements of post RIBA part 1 experience and PDD will support attendance of training sessions linked to academic study.

Excellent presentation and communication skills are essential.
