This vacancy is available to employees of the 22 Welsh Local Authorities, Regional Adoption Services, and the Voluntary Adoption Agencies in Wales.
An opportunity has arisen to lead the development and improvement of adoption support services across Wales in line with the ‘Framework for Adoption Support’ that has been developed by the National Adoption Service for Wales (NAS).
NAS is the Wales wide collaboration of all local authority adoption services in Wales working in partnership with Welsh voluntary adoption agencies and other services.
Linked to the NAS central team based in Cardiff but working across Wales with NAS regions and Voluntary Adoption Agencies (VAA’s) the post holder as our Adoption Support Framework Development Manager, will be responsible for the ongoing development of the ‘Framework’ plan as well as for supporting it’s implementation nationally, regionally and by our partners including the VAA’s in Wales. The Framework is founded in what adopters and adopted children and young people have told as they want and need from services so doing this while maintaining a dialogue and a co-production approach with our service users will be important.
This is an exciting time for adoption services in Wales as we aim to make a real difference to those who need support services. We are seeking interest from experienced manager or senior practitioner who understands adoption services and is able to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and agencies.
This is a temporary post initially for one year, although subject to funding and need, may extend for a further set period. Central team staff are employed by Cardiff Council; a secondment arrangement, subject to the necessary agreements, may be possible for people currently working in relevant services.
The job description and person specification is attached; please contact Suzanne Griffiths Director of Operations firstname.lastname@example.org or Tel. 029 2087 3927 .
This post is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced checks.
Safeguarding and Child Protection are key priorities for the Council. We aim to support children and vulnerable adults to ensure they are as safe as they can possibly be. Our services and schools are committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable adults, and will take action to safeguard their well-being, and acknowledge that children and vulnerable adults have a right to protection. This is supported in the general ethos of the Council and all schools.
This post is temporary until 31st March 2020.
Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis must obtain approval prior to application using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Director/ Assistant Director/ Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.
