Cardiff Council

Social Worker
Job Category: Social Care-Children's
Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: Full Time
Department: Social Services
Grade: Grade 8
Salary: £32,233 - £36,153
Closing date: 21/02/2019

An opportunity for a Social Worker (Grade 8) has arisen at Cardiff Council within Children’s Services based in Looked After Children Aged 14+ Team.

We recognise that young people have really different needs to younger children and we want to make sure that Social Workers have the time and space they need to make young people a priority.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team which puts the individual at the heart of our work. The team works from a strengths-based (Signs of Safety) approach to meet the needs of young people and their families.

If you’re prepared to spend time building a relationship and get alongside a young person to help them achieve their goals and make the changes that are needed and if you’re willing to stick by a young person (who may well push you away) and not give up, then this could be the job for you.

We know that at times teenagers can make you work hard to support them so we’ll be there to support you every step of the way. You can expect protected caseloads, regular supervision and you’ll appreciate the team approach we take to supporting young people and their families. You’ll benefit from an expansive training programme and a nurturing management team who will take time to make sure you develop.

Like you we know that teenagers in crisis need that extra something when it comes to a Social Worker – ordinary isn’t good enough. So if you’re a creative, enthusiastic Social Worker who believes in the power of the teenager to change the world, we’d love to hear from you.

This post is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced checks.

Safeguarding and Child Protection are key priorities for the Council. We aim to support children and vulnerable adults to ensure they are as safe as they can possibly be. Our services and schools are committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable adults, and will take action to safeguard their well-being, and acknowledge that children and vulnerable adults have a right to protection. This is supported in the general ethos of the Council and all schools.

This vacancy is suitable for post share.
