We currently have a vacancy for a Social Worker in the Cardiff and Vale Emergency Duty Team (EDT).

Out of hours enhancement is also payable to staff members in addition to the salary shown.

Working on a rota covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays the Emergency Duty Team ensures that the Council's statutory responsibilities are undertaken out of hours. These include child protection and mental health act assessments. Our remit is to work closely with our statutory partners to ensure that vulnerable adults and children are protected across Cardiff and the Vale.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, flexible and experienced social workers to be part of this busy team. The candidate should have an AMHP qualification with extensive experience in carrying out MHA assessments or be prepared to undertake AMHP Training at the earliest opportunity. The candidate without the AMHP qualification should possess a Childcare qualification with extensive experience in child protection work. Please see attached job description and person specification for the necessary skills and personal attributes needed.

Safeguarding and Child Protection are key priorities for the Council. We aim to support children and vulnerable adults to ensure they are as safe as they can possibly be. Our services and schools are committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable adults, and will take action to safeguard their well-being, and acknowledge that children and vulnerable adults have a right to protection. This is supported in the general ethos of the Council and all schools.

This post is part time and will work 18.30 hours per week.
